Amani Elshimi

Amani Elshimi is Senior Instructor of Rhetoric and Composition, and founding-Director of Undergraduate Research at the American University in Cairo. She is a devoted supporter of undergraduate student scholarship, and an active practitioner of engaging pedagogies, including community-based learning, senior capstone experiences, and course-based internships. She has over 20 years of experience in higher education teaching, faculty development, curriculum design, assessment, and program administration. Between 2008-2011, she served as Director of Community-Based Learning, and she continues to serve as consultant to education-focused civil society organizations. She received the AUC’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2009, the Excellence in Community-Based Learning Award in 2013, and is recognized on the Talloires Civic Engagement Expert’s List.
