Nancy Fried Foster
Senior Anthropologist

Nancy Fried Foster is Senior Anthropologist at Ithaka S+R, where she helps libraries and organizations use ethnographic and participatory methods to understand their users and then design technologies and spaces to meet their needs. Major projects include the redesign of McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland and design of the active learning center at Purdue University. Nancy edited Studying Students: A Second Look, a follow up to the 2007 Studying Students book she co-edited with Susan Gibbons. She holds a PhD in applied anthropology from Columbia University; a diploma from the University of Oxford; and BA from Barnard College.
