Sebastian Hierl
Drue Heinz Librarian
American Academy in Rome
I grew up in Paris and graduated in international business with a dual degree from ESC-Reims and ESB-Reutlingen. During my studies I focused on publishing. After graduation I left Europe for the U.S. and obtained a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature. Discovering libraries in the process, I embarked on a MLIS and started my professional library career as one of the first NCSU Libraries Fellows. Following NCSU, I served as Bibliographer for English and Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Chicago and thereafter as Librarian for Western Europe at Harvard, before taking my current position at the American Academy in Rome.
Interests: Literary Theory, Library Science, Koha, Open Source software in libraries
