Makerspaces are a recent innovation in academic libraries. They are multi-disciplinary workspaces for students to create, collaborate, and engage with technology helping them with critical thinking and an opportunity to discover their interests in a thoroughly unconventional way. They are also referred to as Creative Spaces, Fablabs, or Hackerspaces.
Colleagues from Habib University Library (HUL), Muniba Ather (Coordinator, Information Commons) and Nooruddin Merchant (Chief Librarian), will present their experience in building their own makerspace area at HUL and showcasing the equipment used. There will be a live demo of the actual space, followed by Q&A.
Who should attend: Head/University Librarians, library staff, faculty interested in innovative learning, and technologists who support libraries.
