The RESPOND program is a joint effort on the part of AMICAL and OCLC to create new opportunities for resource discovery by library users, at AMICAL institutions and worldwide.
Through this program, AMICAL libraries obtain access to a powerful set of services for management, discovery and sharing of library collections. They also become members of the OCLC cooperative, able to benefit from the opportunities that opens for professional contact and development.
In particular, RESPOND libraries get access to:
- OCLC Cataloging Subscription
- WorldCat Discovery Services (base level) and WorldCat via FirstSearch
- WorldShare ILL
- WorldShare Collection Evaluation
As members of the cooperative, AMICAL institutions contribute information about their libraries’ holdings, and in many cases contribute their area or language expertise to the cooperative through their cataloging or by adding their voice to professional conversations, user forums and the Members Council.
AMICAL member institutions interested in joining RESPOND, or with questions about the program, should contact the OCLC Committee.
