Implementation of institutional repositories: LAU experience (LAUR)

This workshop will help participants- involved in building their own digital repositories- to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to digitize students’ thesis and faculty publications by implementing DSpace.

Methodology

Hands-on training sessions as well as some presentations.

1. Implementing DSPACE
2. Choosing the university policy
3. Defining the operational policies: collection policy, submission policy, withdrawal policy, preservation policy and usage policies.
4. Defining the procedures: collection of content; creation of communities and collections; submission workflow; creation of metadata; handling permissions/copyright.
5. Defining legal framework
6. Marketing the service
