Social hourAll Mid-Year Forum attendees: come join us for some games and general tomfoolery! We’re planning some fun and conversation to help us connect with colleagues across the consortium, hang out with old friends, and make new ones. Possibly on the menu: the crunchy/smooth peanut butter debate, PowerPoint Karaoke (if you don’t want to try, you’re welcome to just watch and be entertained by your colleagues), and other activities. We may not use the whole hour – and you can leave at any time – but if we’re having too much fun, we can keep the room open a bit longer for those who wish to keep playing! 🤪 Beverages of all types and colors are welcome 🥛 🥤 🍻 🍾 🍵 🍶 🥃 🍷 🍸 🍹 🍺 ☕️ … get ready to turn your cameras on and to be seen and heard!
Who should attend: Everyone!

Library directors forum: “Access vs. ownership during challenging times – and considerations for the future”All AMICAL library directors are invited to this peer-to-peer problem-solving and knowledge-exchange session, focused on e-book ownership versus access (subscription) and the advantages and disadvantages of different models for making library collections available during the current environment of the pandemic. Example questions we may address: What options are being adopted right now, and what challenges do these models present? What are your thoughts about navigating these options going forward? We encourage all participants to come with a specific challenge or issue for your library in mind, related to ownership/access. Everyone will talk briefly about their challenge in pairs; a few volunteers with experience working with and evaluating different ownership/access strategies will be asked to talk about that, and we’ll also have time for at least some participants to get more extensive small-group peer consultation on their specific challenge.

UnWorkshop – Navigating current challenges related to libraries, technology and learningAn un-workshop is different from the “expert” facilitator-led workshop. It’s based around topical breakout sessions driven by participants, with casual, informal conversations and knowledge sharing among peers. This session will allow participants to continue discussions started in other sessions, as well as to start new conversations and plant seeds for productive collaborations. Details about how to propose breakout topics will be sent to registrants.
