Guide for AMICAL Representatives
Communication
From AMICAL
Most of our regular announcements, and many types of message you may receive from other AMICAL colleagues, will come through AMICAL Connect. These message will always be visible on Connect, and will also be relayed to you by email:
- Official consortium-wide announcements are posted by AMICAL staff in the Announcements category. These are generally of broad interest (events, programs, etc. of potential interest to a range of colleagues at member institutions) and are therefore relayed by email to all AMICAL members, with subject lines starting with: “[AMICAL] [Announcements]”.
- Messages posted in the Representatives space are accessible only by Representatives and may be sent by other Representatives or AMICAL staff. These are automatically relayed by email to all Representatives, with subject lines starting with: “[AMICAL] [Representatives]”)
- Similarly, messages posted in the Library Directors and the Library Resources Buyers Group spaces are only accessible and sent by the members of those groups.
- You may receive other notifications about messages posted on Connect, because of your own membership in a Interest Group or Committee, or because you’re “Watching” a specific topic. (On AMICAL Connect, you can “Watch” a topic by responding to a message in that topic or by clicking on the topic’s bell icon. You’ll then be notified by email when new messages are posted.)
Communications that are specific to you as an individual or institution will be sent as regular personalized emails (not through Connect), and occasional major announcements may be sent in this way as well.
We will do our best to provide timely updates on who participates in AMICAL activities:
- You will receive individual notification for every application to our Small Grant and Elisabetta Morani programs.
- We will post updates in the Representatives space for applications to our programs (including Conference proposals)
- Registrants to events are available shortly after each event (see the “Links & resources” page).
How you can communicate
Giving feedback about AMICAL
You may give feedback, voice concerns, and suggest improvements through any of the options available on our Contact page. If you wish to remain anonymous, you may submit a message to the Member-at-large who will handle your message discretely, if requested to do so. There are also formal opportunities, such as the Members Council meeting, that may invite periodic feedback.
Communicate with other AMICAL members
We suggest using AMICAL Connect to communicate with other AMICAL members. You may participate in or start new discussions, share interesting resources, or join an Interest Group.
You may also post messages in the Representatives space, which is only accessible to Representatives and AMICAL staff.
If you’re looking for the direct email address to contact an AMICAL colleague, log into the AMICAL website, go to the page for the colleague’s institution, and find their individual profile. You can also do a web search for “AMICAL” and their name to find their individual profile.
