Sarah C. Hutton is the interim dean of Libraries at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She administers the W. E. B. Du Bois and Science and Engineering Library on the Amherst campus, and the Wadsworth Library on the Mt. Ida campus in Newton, MA.
Hutton received her B.S. degree in Counseling with dual minors in Psychology and Art from Lesley University, her master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Rhode Island, and is a Ph.D. candidate in Educational Policy and Leadership in the College of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst; her doctoral research focuses on motivational theory and open pedagogical course models. She has published and presented extensively on the topics of open education, management, student learning spaces, and collaborative relationship development in higher education. Hutton is a member of the Creative Commons Global Network, and a collaborator with OEGlobal and OE4BW projects. She brings years of experience from positions held at the University of Bridgeport, Rice University, and Boston University. She is a member of Beta Phi Mu, and is a Global OER Graduate Network Scholar.
