Overview
Active roles
The underlying principle is that eligibility for financial support depends on playing an “active role” at the event: as representatives, committee members, resource/event coordinators, or speakers/session leaders.
Types of support
There are 3 categories of that financial support: travel support, hotel, and registration fees. AMICAL members’ eligibility for each type of support also depends partly on their institution’s membership status:
Type of support |
AMICAL Full & Affiliate member |
Network members |
Travel support | Limited | - |
Hotel | Attendees with “active roles” | - |
Registration fees | Attendees with “active roles” | Attendees with “active roles” |
Eligibility rules and application procedures are explained below.
Travel support
Travel support applications have closed
Responses were sent to applicants on 5 March.
The travel support program targets, in particular, staff and faculty at AMICAL institutions with more limited budgets.
AMICAL will cover airfare for approximately 25-30 attendees, depending on the total of airfares being requested.
Eligibility and conditions
- Applicant must be from a Full or Affiliate member institution.
- Applicant’s institution must already be funding travel to the Conference for at least one of their staff or faculty (at a minimum, the AMICAL Representative). By consequence, applications for travel support may not be submitted for AMICAL representatives (who should be funded by the institution itself).
- Applications should only be submitted after first seeking support from one’s own institution. The applicant must confirm that local funding options have already been tried.
- Any staff and faculty meeting the above conditions, who are interested in the Conference and expect to participate actively in the program, are welcome to apply for travel support.
Review of applications
- Applications will be reviewed by the AMICAL Coordinating Committee voting members.
- Awards will be limited to a maximum of 2 awards per Full/Affiliate member institution.
- Criteria:
- Balance of representation across librarians/technologists/faculty for each institution
- Expected contribution to the Conference program/objectives
- Active interest in, and contribution to, AMICAL consortial activities throughout the year
Hotel support
(Hotel support can be requested during registration.)
AMICAL will cover hotel accommodations, for the nights surrounding conference participation, for approximately 67 visiting Full/Affiliate members having “active roles” in the event:
- the 45 representatives and standing committee members
- 22 speakers with session proposals accepted for the program
Exact numbers covered may vary, depending on total requests, numbers willing to share rooms, etc.
Approximately 8 registrations will be available to members able to arrange and pay for their own hotel accommodations.
Eligibility and conditions
Applicant must:
- be from a Full or Affiliate member institution
- have an “active role” in the event (representatives, committee members, resource/event coordinators, or speakers/session leaders)
- register for the Conference by an earlier deadline (10 March)
For applicants meeting the above conditions, hotel support will be accorded in the order registrations are received, until our available budget has been expended — with the following exception:
- Applicants meeting the above conditions AND willing to share a room are guaranteed hotel support (pending acceptance of proposal for speakers)
How to apply
Submit your Conference registration form, indicating there your request for hotel support, by 10 March.
Conference registration fee
The value of the AMICAL Conference registration fee is €300, covering break catering, hotel-campus shuttle, other local organizing costs.
Eligibility and conditions
- Attendee is from any category of AMICAL member institution (Full/Affiliate/Network).
- Attendee should have an “active role” in the event (representatives, committee members, resource/event coordinators, or speakers/session leaders)
How to apply
- Indicate on your Conference registration form which “active role” you are playing in AMICAL 2016, and your registration fee will be waived.
