How to attend and apply
Application is open to AMICAL affiliate faculty members and librarians involved and/or showing interest in information literacy instruction.
To apply, fill in the application form before January 15.
The AMICAL IL Committee reviews and selects participants. Notifications will be issued via e-mail by January 23rd, 2017.
Selection criteria
- Statement of intent
- The proposed team should include both a disciplinary faculty member and a librarian
- There are clear plans for close collaboration on the planning and teaching of a Fall 2017 course
- Project description
- A course description — and, if possible, a syllabus — should be provided
- Concrete learning outcomes stated in syllabus
- Providing evidence that the proposed course will actually be taught in Fall 2017 will strengthen your application
- Statement of impact
- A stated commitment to share the efforts of the pilot project with faculty members in your department (i.e. department meetings) and your institution will strengthen your application
- Statement of follow up
- A stated commitment to follow up during Spring 2018 on lessons learned and assessment in order to prepare a AMICAL 2018 conference proposal will strengthen your application
- Proposing a session/activity for the 2017 AMICAL conference to follow up and continue the workshop will strengthen your application
Financial support information
Financial support will be awarded based on your answers to the questions on the application form and the availability of funds.
AMICAL will be able to cover participation costs for approximately 6 faculty-librarian teams who have applied and are accepted to the workshop.
AMICAL will cover participation costs including:
- Airfare
- Accommodations (at Cadran Hotel including breakfast) - three nights (arriving Thursday March 30st until Sunday April 2nd)
- Lunch and coffee breaks provided during workshop
All costs not mentioned above, including visas, diner meals, ground transportation and incidental costs, will be the responsibility of participants or their institutions.
There will also be space for around 3 self-funded AMICAL faculty-librarian pairs.
